AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR (AED) & STOP THE BLEED

The safety of our faculty, staff, students, and guests is important to Utah Tech University. University Safety & Risk Management has placed AED with Stop the Bleed Kits in buildings across campus. A sign over the location of each AED allows its location to be easily identifiable.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

The AED is used for sudden cardiac arrest medical emergencies. All AED devices on campus give audio and/or visual prompts with clear and simple instructions guiding individuals through each step.

University Safety & Risk Management will routinely inspect and service AED devices. Should a problem occur between inspections, please contact the Fire & Life Safety Officer at 435-652-7722 or Kevin.Rindy@utahtech.edu.

Stop the Bleed

Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call-to-action. Stop the Bleed is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.

For more information on the Department Homeland Security campaign please visit: https://www.dhs.gov/stopthebleed

Stop the Bleed kits

Stop the Bleed kits are located inside every AED cabinet throughout campus. Stop the Bleed kits are only meant to be used when a life-threatening bleeding emergency occurs and first responders have not arrived on scene. Stop the Bleed kits do not replace traditional first aid kits.

Please contact the Office of Fire & Life Safety if you use supplies from a Stop the Bleed kit.
